The AIWEST-DR conference for 2024 is back and it will be in HYBRID MODE, inviting scholars, government officials, and professionals to exchange insights and the latest developments in mitigating risks from various disasters. This year, AIWEST commemorates the 20th anniversary of the 2004 Aceh Tsunami. The event aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting both scholarly research and practical strategies for disaster management. It is also held in conjunction with the 8th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Disaster Experts Association (PIT-IABI).

Welcome to the 16th Aceh International Workshop and Expo on Sustainable Tsunami Disaster Recovery

AIWEST-DR has been an annual routine event since 2016, serving as a platform for disseminating findings and research results in disaster management. This activity serves as an effort to assess scientific methods, produce and disseminate scientific knowledge, exchange ideas and information freely, respect the diversity of ideas and approaches, maintain public accountability, achieve excellence and integrity, and present accurate, peer-reviewed, and reputable science. It is expected that 4 keynote speakers and 9 invited speakers will contribute to this event. In addition to hosting speakers, TDMRC, as the event organizer, will propose special issue publications in reputable international journals, Scopus indexed proceedings, and accredited national journals. The goal of AIWEST-DR is to facilitate the strengthening of partner networks in disaster management for strategic communication in the exchange of ideas, information, and diversity.

On behalf of the organizing committee, we would like to invite and welcome everyone to the 16th Aceh International Workshop and Expo on Sustainable Tsunami Disaster Recovery. Under the theme “Bridging History and Horizons Towards Sustainable Resilience, Adaptive, and Inclusive World: Commemorating 20 years of the 2004 Aceh Tsunami” , this conference will provide an excellent forum for researchers, practitioners, and academicians to discuss, exchange, and share the latest research and innovations.
