Abstract Submission Guidelines

Submitted abstracts should provide a clear summary of the context of your study, a statement of the problem, the methods used, key results, and a conclusion. Abstracts should be written as one cohesive paragraph and should be a  maximum of 250 words and the abstract title should be between 8 – 16 words.  Please do not include in-text citations or headings in your abstract. When constructing your abstract, please consider the following:

LOCATE

Provide the broader context of your research or project, considering issues and debates within your discipline or field. In naming the location, state your work’s contribution, significance, and relevance outside of its specific place of origin.

FOCUS

Identify the problem, issue, research question, or a gap in critical attention that your submission will explore, examine, and/or investigate.

REPORT

Explain how your study or project explored or addressed the issue identified. You should describe the research methods, theoretical/analytical approach chosen, and the outcomes of the work you have completed (includes preliminary results for uncompleted projects).

ARGUE

Explain your findings, state your analysis, theorise, or take a stance. Confirm your submission’s contribution to your discipline and the broader disaster risk reduction field. State the practical, theoretical, and research-related implications of your findings.

A Procedure of Abstracts and Full Paper Submission until Acceptance for the Conference Proceedings:

All prospective participants and presenters are requested to read this procedure carefully to avoid unwanted situations.

  1. Prospective presenters of the 17th AIWEST-DR need to register to this link for submitting their abstract: https://aiwest-dr.usk.ac.id/app/
  2. All received abstracts will be reviewed by a scientific committee member to ensure that the scope of the abstracts are aligned with the scopes of the 17 the AIWEST-DR 2025.
  3. Submission of the abstracts will be closed on April 30, 2025.
  4. Acceptance of the abstracts will be announced on May 15, 2025 at the latest.
  5. Those who want to publish their papers at the Conference Proceedings may startto submit their full papers on May 16, 2025 (link for paper submission to be announced). The last date for the submission of papers is until it is June 30, 2025.
  6. A review process of the manuscripts will be done by anonymous reviewersassigned by Editors of the Conference Proceedings.
  7. Notification of full paper review results will be made by July 30,2025.
  8. Following receipt of the review results, authors who want to submit their manuscript to the Conference Proceedings must both pay the paper processing fee, and submit their r5evised manuscripts by August 30, 2025.
  9. Payment of the manuscript processing fee DOES NOT guarantee publication in the Conference Proceedings. If the submitted revised manuscript does not address the review comments, Editors of the Conference Proceedings reserve the right not to forward the paper to the Publisher. In this case, 80% of the paper processing fee will be refunded to the authors.
  10. All papers that have met the review requirements will be submitted in Camera-Ready format to the Publisher on September 20, 2025. No refunds are available after this point.
  11. Final acceptance of the manuscript will be made by the Conference Proceeding Publisher (to be announced). The Publisher reserves the right to reject any papers they deem not to meet the scientific standard of the Conference Proceedings Publisher. The 17th AIWEST-DR Organising Committee and Editor of Conference Proceedings will not be able to contradict the decision of the Publisher.
  12. Rejected papers for the Conference Proceedings are suggested to submit theirmanuscript to some topic-related international journals. One of the options wouldbe: https://jurnal.usk.ac.id/IJDM
